Hon. Akala Condemns School Abductions in Oyo, Demands Stronger Security Measures

By Aaron Ossai

A member of the House of Representatives representing Ogbomosho North/Ogbomosho South/Oriire Federal Constituency, Olamijuwonlo Alao Akala, has condemned the recent bandit attacks on schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the incident as a serious threat to education and public safety.

Akala made the statement during a condolence visit to the Oko-Ile community following attacks on Baptist Primary School, Yawota, and Community High School, Esin-Ele, where gunmen reportedly abducted several students and a school principal.

Describing the attacks as “inhumane” and unacceptable, the lawmaker said the recurring insecurity in the area endangers homes, schools, and communities.

“This inhumane criminal act, which has been going on for a while now, is a direct assault on our educational system and a grave threat to our collective safety and wellbeing in our homes, schools, and communities. It is unacceptable and strongly condemned,” he said.

Akala urged security agencies in Ogbomoso and across Oyo State to intensify efforts to rescue the abducted victims and arrest those responsible for the attacks.

He also called on the Federal Government to fast-track the implementation of state policing and establish a military base in Oriire Local Government Area to address the growing wave of violence and insecurity.

“I am using this opportunity to appeal and call on the security operatives in Ogbomoso and across Oyo State to immediately swing into action to rescue the abducted and apprehend the perpetrators of this evil act,” he stated.

The lawmaker assured residents that he would continue engaging relevant stakeholders and monitoring developments until peace and normalcy are restored in the affected communities.

Akala further extended condolences to families affected by the incident and prayed for the safe return of all abducted victims.

“My heartfelt condolences go to the families of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident, and I pray for the quick, safe, and unharmed return of all the abducted victims,” he added.
