The Kwara State Chapter of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria, MMPN, says Islam remains its only agenda as it inaugurates new executive.
The new exco was inaugurated recently at the association’s secretariat, Retired Justice Abdulkadir Orire Mosque, GRA, Ilorin.
North Central Coordinator and Shuurah Committee Chairman, Mallam Mustafa Abubakar, declared the stand, urging members to serve Islam with sincerity and fear of Allah.
“MMPN has one agenda — Islam,” he said, calling for renewed intention and commitment to the Muslim Ummah.
He said the Shuurah process was to give the association a fresh start, stressing leadership is a trust, not personal recognition.
“This is a call to serve rather than an avenue for personal recognition,” he said, warning against importing disputes from other unions into MMPN.
He urged new media house representatives to mobilise Muslims across TV, radio, newspapers and online platforms to strengthen unity.
According to him, expanded representation will help MMPN respond effectively to issues affecting Islam and Muslims.
He noted MMPN has existed over four decades as a national body headquartered in Abuja with structures nationwide.
He paid tribute to mentors like Sheikh Muhammad Kamaldeen Al-Adabiy, Justice Abdulkadir Orire and Prof. Lanre Badmas Yusuf for their sacrifices.
He also commended National President Mallam Abdulrahman Balogun and NEC for sustaining growth and unity.
The new exco to serve three years has Ahmed Ajiboye as Chairman, Abdulrosheed Okiki as Vice Chairman and Moshood Zarumi as Secretary.
Others are Imam Muhibudeen Yusuf as Missioner, Hauwau Alimi-Makama as Treasurer, Furera Muhammad as Financial Secretary and Muizdeen Adewole Mahmud as PRO, with Dr AbdulRazaq Laro Yusuf, Ali Muhammad Rabiu and Muslimah Abubakar as Ex-Officio members.
Elders including Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin of Leadership Newspapers and Abdulhakeem Garba of Channels TV urged unity, avoidance of sentiments and use of platforms to promote Islam positively.
