JTI Nigeria reaffirms commitment to economic growth

By Kehinde Ibrahim, Lagos

JAPAN Tobacco International (JTI) Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to Nigeria’s economic development through sustained business operations, responsible corporate practices and investments in its workforce.

The company, which has operated in Nigeria for 18 years, said it remained focused on creating sustainable value for its employees, business partners and other stakeholders while supporting the broader economy.

Speaking on the company’s journey in Nigeria, General Manager of JTI Nigeria, Abdallah Simba, said the company had maintained a long-term commitment to conducting its business responsibly and contributing meaningfully to the communities and stakeholders within its operating environment.

According to him, JTI Nigeria’s presence in the country over the past 18 years reflects the company’s commitment to building a sustainable business while supporting its employees and contributing to Nigeria’s economic aspirations.

Simba said the company’s approach was anchored on respect, equal opportunity, inclusion and continuous employee development, noting that a diverse and supportive workplace remained central to its long-term business strategy.

He added that as Nigeria continued to pursue growth and development across various sectors of the economy, JTI Nigeria would continue to strengthen its role as a responsible corporate organisation and deepen its contribution to the country.

The company said its outlook for the years ahead would focus on consolidating the progress recorded over the past 18 years while creating sustainable value for its employees, partners and other stakeholders.

JTI Nigeria’s commitment comes against the backdrop of Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary, which provides an opportunity to reflect on the country’s economic journey, resilience and the aspirations of its people.

The company said it remained optimistic about Nigeria’s future and would continue to align its operations with opportunities to contribute to the country’s economic development.

JTI Nigeria is part of Japan Tobacco International, a global tobacco and vaping company headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The group operates in more than 130 countries and employs approximately 47,000 people worldwide.

With its continued presence in Nigeria, the company said it would build on its experience in the country and pursue initiatives capable of strengthening its relationships with employees, partners and other stakeholders while supporting sustainable business growth.
