Kwara youth group urges APC, Tinubu to back Femi Sanni for 2027 governorship

A political advocacy group, Kwara Youth for Good Governance (KYFGG), has called on the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to support the emergence of Engr. Femi Sanni (ARABA) as the party’s governorship candidate in Kwara State for the 2027 election.

In an open letter signed by its Convener, Salman Idris, the group argued that the ruling party needed “leadership, not another compromise,” stressing that the choice of its next flag bearer should be based on competence, capacity, and the ability to unite the party rather than religious or political considerations.

According to KYFGG, Sanni, a founding member of the APC in Kwara State, possesses the experience, loyalty, and broad acceptability required to strengthen the party ahead of the next governorship election.

The group also maintained that Kwara South, where Sanni hails from, deserves another opportunity to produce the state’s governor, describing such a move as a strategic step towards strengthening internal cohesion and promoting fairness within the party.

Addressing concerns over Sanni’s Christian faith, KYFGG argued that Kwara’s longstanding tradition of peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians made religion a non-issue, adding that a balanced ticket would reflect the state’s inclusive political culture.

It further stated that the APC’s dominant position in Kwara provided it with the confidence to nominate a candidate based on merit rather than political expediency.

“The coming election will not be won by symbolism alone. It will be won by organisation, credibility, trust and the ability to inspire both party members and ordinary citizens,” the group stated.
