Eronmene Ososesene: The entrepreneur opening doors for women in real estate to create wealth

By Palma Ileye

Success in entrepreneurship is never a straight road. It is a journey of calculated risks, difficult decisions and unexpected setbacks. Success is ultimately achieved through the unflinching determination to keep moving, even when the rewards may not be immediately visible. For Eronmene Ososesene, her journey has been an opportunity to redefine business success as something that moves beyond the accumulation of personal wealth to the ability to create opportunities through which others can build their own futures.

With 11 years of entrepreneurial experience, Ososesene is steadily establishing her presence in Abuja’s real estate sector through Mene Homes, a company she founded on June 24, 2024. Beneath the commercial ambitions of the business lies her bigger vision to make entrepreneurship a more accessible pathway to economic independence, particularly for women seeking the knowledge, confidence and opportunities to build sustainable sources of income.

Originally from Uromi in Esan North East Local Government Area of Edo State, Ososesene studied Biochemistry at the tertiary level. Her professional journey, however, has taken her beyond the laboratory sciences into the demanding world of business, where commercial judgement, customer relationships, market knowledge and the ability to adapt are essential to survival. Over the years, she has drawn lessons from building businesses, navigating setbacks and refining her approach to leadership.

But how has she built her enterprise? Mene Homes operates across several areas of the real estate value chain, including land sales, estate development, brokerage, property management, rentals, leases and hospitality-related services. Its portfolio also encompasses cleaning, interior solutions, construction and short-stay accommodation, reflecting an effort to bring complementary property services under one business platform.

The company’s brand promise, “Turning spaces into places and houses into homes,” captures its stated ambition to go beyond property transactions and offer services that address the broader needs of individuals, families and businesses. This is particularly relevant in a market where property decisions often involve substantial financial commitments and where trust, transparency and professional service are central to building lasting client relationships.

According to Ososesene, the task is to translate that ambition into sustained business growth, stronger client confidence and an enterprise capable of competing in a sector where reputation and the delivery of promised value matter considerably. Within approximately two years of entering Abuja’s real estate market, she says her company has developed and marketed multiple estate offerings, established active projects and expanded its network of clients and sales partners.

The company also reports having helped about 200 people become landlords or property owners, a milestone that underscores the role it seeks to play in connecting prospective buyers with property opportunities. While this figure represents the company’s own account of its progress, it offers an indication of the scale of its early ambitions and the market it hopes to serve.

Ososesene has also received awards and recognition during this phase of her real estate journey. For her, the significance of such milestones lies in the responsibility to keep improving the business, strengthening service delivery and building relationships that can sustain its growth. Yet, her ambitions extend beyond the conventional measures of business success.

Women’s economic empowerment occupies a prominent place in Ososesene’s plans for the next phase of her career. She believes that access to practical business knowledge, income-generating opportunities and mentorship can help women move beyond economic dependence and build sustainable enterprises of their own.

Her interest in real estate also provides a platform for introducing women to property-related opportunities, including the knowledge required to understand the market, engage prospective clients and develop careers in the sector. This ambition is taking shape through BUILDHER Community and her mentorship initiative, which are intended to support women at different stages of their entrepreneurial journeys.

The proposed community brings together women already operating businesses, those preparing to launch their ventures and individuals interested in pursuing careers in real estate. Its focus includes business development, sales, marketing, personal branding, relationship management, real estate knowledge and the habits required to build sustainable sources of income.

Through mentorship, Ososesene says she hopes to share lessons drawn from her own experiences and help other women approach business challenges with greater preparation and confidence. Her wider objective is to encourage women to think beyond immediate earnings and consider how skills, business relationships, financial discipline and strategic decision-making can contribute to long-term wealth creation.

She firmly believes that empowerment should extend beyond motivational messages to include the practical tools people need to make progress. This belief also informs her interest in women and children through the Mene Empowerment Foundation, another part of her wider vision. The foundation provides a platform for her commitment to social impact beyond the commercial activities of Mene Homes.

Her vision is built around the belief that economic progress becomes more valuable when it creates opportunities beyond the individual entrepreneur. She identifies hard work, consistency, courage and resilience as values that have shaped her journey, recognising that the realities of running a business often differ from the expectations that accompany its launch.
