The Danmasani of Ilorin, Engr. Suleiman Yahaya Alapansanpa, has described the emergence of Shaykh Muhammad Bashir Dasuki Al-Fulani as the 13th Chief Imam of Ilorin as divine and well-deserved.
Alapansanpa said this in a congratulatory message following the turbanning ceremony held on Friday, July 11, 2026, at the Emir’s Palace, Ilorin.
The community leader noted that the overwhelming acceptance that greeted the appointment by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, was a clear sign of divine selection.
“The manner with which his appointment was received by all and sundry shows that he was divinely chosen for the role,” the Danmasani stated.
He described the new Chief Imam as a young, elegant and brilliant Islamic scholar who is adequately prepared to provide quality spiritual leadership for the Ilorin Emirate.
According to him, the performance of Shaykh Dasuki since assuming office has further confirmed that he is equal to the responsibilities of the exalted position.
Alapansanpa, who is also the Chairman of the Ilorin Emirate Durbar Committee, commended the Emir for appointing a charismatic and widely respected cleric.
He said the choice has further affirmed that the Emir is a well-guided leader who is committed to the unity and progress of the Emirate.
The Danmasani, who is also President of the Association of Compassionate Patriots, ACP, prayed for Allah’s guidance, wisdom and strength for Shaykh Dasuki throughout his reign.
“I wish the Chief Imam a very long, peaceful and rewarding Imamship. May his tenure bring greater unity, religious harmony and moral rejuvenation to Ilorin Emirate,” he said.
Alapansanpa urged all indigenes and friends of Ilorin to support the new Chief Imam with prayers and cooperation for the continued peace and development of the Emirate.
