Tinubu orders arrest, suspends 3 Perm Secs as ICPC uncovers new fake agency

By Augustine Ehikioya

For alleged operation of a fake government agency within the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze.

He also ordered the immediate suspension of three permanent secretaries following findings by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Briefing State House correspondents on Friday, ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, said the commission uncovered an alleged fake office operating within the OSGF premises identified as the “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office.”

Aliyu said the office was “allegedly allocated space within the OSGF without presidential authorisation.”

The discovery was made during ICPC’s broader investigation into the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) and other procedural weaknesses in government.

According to the commission, the office was promoted by Nwabueze, who allegedly operated under several variations of his name, “with the involvement of suspected collaborators within the OSGF.”

“Following the briefing, Mr President directed the immediate arrest of Prince George Buchi Nwabueze,” Aliyu said.

The ICPC Chairman also disclosed that President Tinubu ordered the suspension of three permanent secretaries: M.S. Danjuma, Engineer Nadungu Gagare and
Richard P. Pheelangwah.

Aliyu said the ICPC had engaged OSGF officials to obtain relevant information and subsequently briefed the President.

The ICPC boss commended Tinubu for ordering a forensic audit of government processes, describing it as a “proactive step towards strengthening governance and closing loopholes that could facilitate abuse within the public service.”

He said the investigation is ongoing and warned that “further actions could follow as additional facts emerge.”

The latest action comes as the ICPC intensifies its probe into alleged unauthorised entities operating within government structures.
