Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) has concluded a three-day training programme on Public Procurement Processes and Procedures for its management staff, with the Acting Registrar, Dr. Fadipe Oladotun, reaffirming the Council’s commitment to continuous capacity building to enhance productivity and improve service delivery.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Fadipe commended participants for their dedication throughout the programme, describing continuous learning as critical to building an efficient, professional and result-oriented workforce.

He assured staff that the Council would continue to organize training programmes to strengthen institutional capacity and equip employees with the skills needed to effectively discharge their responsibilities.

“You will get more training to enhance productivity,” he said, noting that regular capacity development remains essential to improving performance, professionalism and institutional effectiveness.

Dr. Fadipe explained that investing in staff development was a key strategy for achieving the Council’s mandate and advancing its vision of becoming a world-class veterinary regulatory authority.

During the training, participants received lectures on key areas of public procurement, including Procurement Implementation Process, delivered by Nazir Sani Umar; Fundamental Principles of Bid Examination and Valuation for Works, Goods and Services, presented by Aminu Zakari; and Complaint Procedure and Administrative Review, facilitated by Chinedu David Njoku.

The programme according to a press release signed by Medina Gertrude, Head Press and Public Relations of VCN, equipped participants with practical knowledge of procurement planning, implementation, bid evaluation, complaint management, transparency, accountability and compliance with the Public Procurement Act.

The Acting Registrar urged staff to apply the knowledge gained to strengthen procurement processes within the Council and contribute more effectively to achieving its organisational objectives.

Participants expressed appreciation to the management of the Council for organising the training, describing it as insightful, impactful and beneficial to their professional development.

The successful completion of the programme, according to the Council, reflects its commitment to strengthening institutional capacity, promoting best practices in public procurement and enhancing productivity across all levels of the organisation.
