Federal Government has approved the appointment of three substantive provosts for Federal Colleges of Agriculture in Akure, Kano and Dadin Kowa, Gombe State.
The appointments, approved by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abba Kyari, followed a rigorous selection process, including examinations and interviews conducted by the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN).
The newly appointed provosts are Dr. Folorunsho Rasheed Oloyede for the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure; Dr. Salisu Salisu for the Federal College of Agriculture and Produce Technology, Kano; and Dr. Umar Umar Abdullahi for the Federal College of Horticulture, Dadin Kowa, Gombe State.
Presenting the appointment letters on Friday in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of ARCN, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Dabban, urged the new provosts to align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s food security agenda by transforming their respective institutions into centres of excellence in agricultural education, research and innovation.
Dabban charged the appointees to demonstrate professionalism, diligence and integrity in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He also encouraged them to pursue ambitious reforms aimed at improving institutional governance, enhancing research capacity, strengthening collaboration with stakeholders, promoting staff welfare and advancing Nigeria’s National Agricultural Research System.
The ARCN said the appointments were part of ongoing efforts to reposition federal agricultural colleges to better support the country’s drive towards food security and sustainable agricultural development.
