A renowned financial expert, Ambassador (Dr) Ibrahim Tajudeen Shola Olesin on Tuesday formally submitted his Letter of Intent to contest the Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, pledging effective legislation, diligent oversight, and responsive representation if given the party’s ticket.
Speaking at the Kwara State Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Ilorin, Olesin said his aspiration was rooted in service and loyalty to party ideals rather than personal ambition.
“I am here today with humility and a deep sense of responsibility to formally submit my Letter of Intent to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ilorin East/Ilorin South Federal Constituency.
“This step is not driven by personal ambition alone, but by a firm commitment to the ideals of our party and a genuine desire to serve our people more effectively,” he said.
The aspirant emphasised that the responsibility of representation goes beyond occupying a seat, stressing that the task ahead requires “preparation, capacity, and a clear understanding of the expectations of our people.”
“I present myself as one who is ready to contribute meaningfully through effective legislation, diligent oversight, and responsive representation,” he added.
Olesin also reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, noting that he had consistently supported the party’s growth and electoral successes over the years.
He commended the leadership of Kwara State and the achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, expressing confidence that the party would secure victory in the forthcoming elections.
“I therefore humbly seek your support, your counsel, and your endorsement as I take this step.
“I remain committed to upholding the values of our party and to representing our people with integrity and dedication if given the opportunity,” he said.
In his remarks, the Kwara APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, described Olesin as a humble and focused aspirant, urging him to stay committed to his vision.
“I know you personally to be a young entrepreneur with a high level of humility, and it is good someone like you is coming out to aspire. I pray your aspiration shall be fruitful,” Fagbemi said.
The state party chairman advised the aspirant to concentrate on communicating his agenda to the people rather than engaging in distractions.
“Just go out there and let people know what you are capable of and the level you want to take them to. Be focused on your agenda when promoting your aspiration and don’t be distracted by other aspirants,” he added.
The declaration also drew strong support from party stakeholders in the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of leaders from Ilorin East and Ilorin South, Alhaji Muhammed Olayinka, popularly known as Commander, said the turnout of party elders underscored their confidence in Olesin’s candidacy.
“We elders and party stakeholders from Ilorin South and East are very proud of Ambassador Tajudeen Olesin, that is why we are here with strong stakeholders and representatives of community leaders.
“We pray that success is ours. Please accept our candidate, pray for him, and support him to go and represent us. We are very proud of his community development antecedents. He is highly educated with a proven academic record,” he said.
