Nigerians will be convinced to re-elect Tinubu in 2027 – Yari

By Lanre Oloyede

Former Zamfara State Governor and Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has expressed confidence that Nigerians will give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu another four-year mandate in the January 2027 presidential election.

Yari reaffirmed the commitment of the APC-PCC to securing the support of Nigerians for Tinubu’s re-election bid, insisting that the President’s performance, faith in God and the campaign council’s mobilisation efforts would convince voters to renew his mandate.

The former governor spoke with journalists in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, where he joined President Tinubu and other prominent Nigerians to perform the lesser Hajj (Umrah).

His remarks came days after President Tinubu, during a media interaction in Saudi Arabia on Friday, expressed confidence that his re-election would ultimately be determined by the will of God.

The President had declared that he had enormous faith in Allah, stressing that only God could determine the destiny and leadership position of an individual.

“I believe that Allah’s wish in His court must prevail. And there’s no other God but Allah.

“Allah is the only one who can define a human being, what he will be, and what he will become,” Tinubu said.

Reacting to the President’s comments, Yari described his reliance on God as an important attribute of leadership, noting that Tinubu had demonstrated humility by acknowledging that political power ultimately rests with the Almighty.

According to him, the President’s prayers for Nigeria and its citizens, as well as his confidence in divine intervention, reflect his commitment to the country’s progress.

He, however, stressed that faith must be complemented by deliberate political engagement and grassroots mobilisation to secure electoral victory.

Yari said the APC-PCC would intensify its efforts to communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration, engage Nigerians across the country and convince voters that the President deserves another term.

He expressed optimism that the electorate would be persuaded by the administration’s performance and the campaign council’s efforts.

The APC-PCC Director-General added that the party would continue to trust in God’s guidance while fulfilling its responsibility of campaigning, reaching out to voters and presenting the administration’s achievements.

He said: “That’s what makes a leader, because when you ask him, he first prayed for the country, prayed for every Nigerian and also he says this election is an election that God has selected the person who will be a leader and only Him that can put a leader or otherwise.

“So in total, I depend on Allah to do it for him as He did it for him in 2023.

“By that, Allah says we should welcome and work, that all the procedures we are doing to campaign, to talk to people, to convince them, to show them what we have done, what we have achieved and by God’s grace, people will be convinced to elect us.”

Yari’s remarks underscore the APC-PCC’s determination to combine faith-based appeals with nationwide political mobilisation as the ruling party prepares for the 2027 presidential election.
