President Bola Tinubu has pledged to replicate the scale of infrastructure development currently being witnessed in the federal capital territory FCT, across all parts of Nigeria, saying no region will be left behind in his administration’s development plans.
The President made the pledge on Tuesday during the inauguration of the newly completed Transitway N2 linking Abuja’s Central Business District and Wuse District, including two strategic bridges constructed by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
Represented by senate president Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu said his administration was committed to expanding investments in roads, bridges, rail lines and other critical infrastructure nationwide to drive economic growth and improve the lives of citizens.
According to him, the newly commissioned transit corridor reflects the goals of the renewed hope agenda, which prioritises infrastructure development as a tool for economic expansion and national progress.
He noted that the project would ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity and boost business activities between two of Abuja’s busiest districts.
“For years, commuters moving between Wuse and the Central Area faced heavy traffic, delays and loss of productive hours. Today, that challenge has been significantly reduced,” he said.
Tinubu added that the road would create new economic opportunities by opening up commercial corridors and improving access across the city.
The President also commended FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for driving the ongoing transformation of Abuja in line with the city’s master plan.
“You have contributed to something larger than a roadway; you have contributed to the future of our capital city and given pride to Nigeria,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Wike described the Transitway as a major transport corridor designed to strengthen links between Wuse and the Central Business District.
He attributed the pace of infrastructure delivery in the FCT to the support of President Tinubu, particularly the decision to remove the FCT Administration from the Treasury Single Account (TSA), which he said improved access to funds for development projects.
Wike said more details of the administration’s achievements in the FCT would be unveiled on July 17, the final day of the ongoing project inauguration exercise.
“There are many things the President has done for the FCT and for Nigerians that people do not know about. We will continue to showcase these achievements so Nigerians can understand why they should support and pray for him,” he said.
The minister also disclosed plans to ensure that all roads within the FCT, including those currently not captured on Google Maps, would be digitally mapped to make navigation easier for residents and visitors.
FCT minister of state, Mariya Mahmoud, described the newly completed road as a strategic investment that would enhance connectivity, stimulate economic activities and improve urban mobility within the capital city.
