Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday commissioned two major infrastructure projects in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, describing them as bold statements of the state’s commitment to industrialization and fiscal reform.
The projects are the Kwara State Garment Factory and the 11-storey Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) House.
The Garment Factory, a flagship initiative of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, is designed to employ at least 4,000 people at full capacity, with a particular focus on empowering women and young people.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Vice President Shettima commended Governor AbdulRazaq for what he described as visionary leadership, as well as his constructive role as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF).
According to the Vice President, Governor AbdulRazaq has demonstrated purposeful leadership through sustained engagements with the Federal Government and development partners.
“Behind the institutional language of reforms and revenue lies the core responsibility of government meeting the needs of farmers, households, and businesses,” Shettima said.
He noted that the projects commissioned in Kwara reflect that responsibility and are aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly in job creation, enterprise development and sustainable revenue generation.
Governor AbdulRazaq, in his remarks, thanked the Vice President for visiting the state and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering projects that create jobs, empower citizens and reposition Kwara State for greater economic prosperity.
The commissioning ceremonies were attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, captains of industry and members of the business community.
